Now that you’ve updated all your interests and had a laugh..I’m sure you’ll laugh at this as well-just an update in the boring life of the at home worker. Enjoy!

So you know how you work your butt off for whatever reason and it goes for days and days and finally you see that light at the end of the tunnel when you can schedule a whole dang day off? I had that finally for the first time in a long time – not just a whole day – the afternoon prior and the morning after so – MAN was I feeling the whole – yahoo – time to take off and relax and enjoy with the man…yippee! It started out good but – you know it just HAD to have its ups and downs cuz you know – it’s me and all that.

I LOVED getting out of the house and doing stupid little things like dropping laundry and getting food at the store…funny. I’m going to do that more during the week so I don’t loose my mind at some point but, that was the really first time in a few weeks I had been able to do anything so, it was very refreshing. It was also refreshing to actually spend time with BoyScoutJim and the puppy without the whole – let me work for an hour – then we’ll do something then, I’ll work for another hour, then we can do something else and then, we can relax. So, we got things done, made and ate a nice relaxing dinner, played with the puppy, watched movies and all was fabulous.

So- I wake up at like 5 am. It was still o’dark 30 and I had been getting up early recently to work so, okay fine. What the heck am I going to do at o’dark thirty and not wake everyone up? Nothing.

Sweet.

Kinda nice really but you know, the news doesn’t come on until later – how much does that blow? I sure ain’t gonna watch infomercials—even if it would help on some sales. I mess around with email and on line for a bit and watch the news and BSJ gets up and all that so, not terribly horrible. Eventually cruise into the shower and get dressed and plan on making some breakfast so BSJ decides to take the dog for a quick jaunt while I do that and we can relax for a while and enjoy our day – right?

Wrong.

Picture this.

I’m frying up some hash browns, nicely showered, dressed but, my hair has that just tore a towel threw it look and I’ve got things getting together on the stove and turning on the heat and Jim opens the front door and says – “can you come out here?” And I can tell from his voice something is wrong so, I prepare myself for a tree on my car or something and turn off the heat and go walking out to find…….

Police with their hands on their holsters in the driveway asking me if I’m okay. ( I was until I saw you buddy but-yeah, I’m smarter than that). "I’m fine, whats up?".

They are questioning BSJ and the poor dog is trying to run for dear life back under my legs (such a wussy) and BSJ is trying to answer their questions, handle the dog and see how I’m reacting to it all at the same time – poor guy. They're saying they got a 911 call from here and again, am I okay? “Yes I'm fine, and what? From here? Really? Wasn’t me” – and I’m thinking....... Did BSJ call while I was in the shower and not tell me, and why? LOL. And they really still are on edge and said they called back with no answer and again I’m like—“here? Are you sure?” (I don’t know if that’s the answer they were looking for but, it’s the only one I had for them). Then they ask me again if I am okay – and again I tell them I’m fine and I apologize but, I didn’t call and I also didn’t get a call back.

Anyway….this story doesn’t end here – you knew that – didn’t you?

They start asking about FID cards because it’s listed that this address has one – funny, no it doesn’t. And that’s why they were on edge, okay. Got it. Good work boys but, update your records, okay?

But now, about the calls? No, no, really, I didn’t get a call – but, they got my answering machine? What? I have no idea really, the phone didn’t ring and I didn’t call so, I appreciate it and all but, it’s all good.

Finally they go away and BSJ and I talk over all of it and it’s just freaky. You know the dog was a wuss for the rest of the day too. Poor thing.

Anyway......I pick up my phone—dead. Dead as a doornail. I had been having problems with it and asked BSJ to bring down a handset to check the box so – he goes right out and does that ASAP and yeah, it’s dead at the box. WTF?

So, I’m thinking – did someone hijack my line? Are they in trouble, are lines crossed and someone’s dying – OH MY GOD.

Then I calm down and call Verizon.

You know how that goes but I already know, and get agent on the line, and tell her I already checked the box and its dead and she tells me we’ll schedule and I interrupt her and tell her that my phone is calling 911. She very unsurprisingly says, okay…we’ll get a technician out there today to fix that short that’s calling 911.

Great.

I call the police and update them just in case they still get calls I want them to know what’s up. Again apologize and thank them – so embarrassed and thankful too.

Then I put it all together……

........my phone was forwarded to my cell phone and I had it silenced. Hehehehe. No WONDER they got my answering machine. DOH! I'm an idiot.

Anyway – it did call them again while I was taking a nap and BSJ picked up the cell thinking it was Verizon because the guy says - having phone problems? And telling them that it was calling 911 and they tell him THIS IS 911. Poor guy. But, they marked it as phone issue. WHEW – no need to go through all that again dangit.

Verizon finally came about 8 pm and fixed it and told me it was a short in the box and my alarm probably was calling 911 for that (I don’t have an alarm as far as I know LOL) and anyway- we were finally able to relax.

So, the police know everything there is to know about Jim and I and the dog will just run and hide if they ever come around so, I guess that’s good? (I’m really on the fence on that one.) There’s some kind of weird short in the phone lines around here, and no one else died or anything so that’s good. We didn’t get shot or arrested either so, that’s very nice. Eventually we settled down and at least I wasn’t working – right?

Gotta look at the bright side of all these things sometimes.

Remind me not to take a day off anymore.
