More Shopping with Giving in Mind....

Heather reminded me that last year I had put together a great list of charities that I should definately share. She's right (of course).
The list is a conglomeration of the more local slant on charities that center on animals and environment but, I did my best to keep the list from getting political and controversial. I also wanted it to give to the recipient something as well - membership, newsletter, small gift, etc.
A few notes prior to the listing.
If donation includes a newsletter - double check, call and assure that the newsletter will go to your recipient (one cape place sent it to me all year instead)
ASPCA will hound you with mail at least once a week. They will however send you free wrapping paper, labels, and a calendar hoping for continued donations. They'll call too. Kinda sucks that way but, it's a good cause.
The Adopt an Animal lists are way too long for those very tender hearted - you might want to shorten the list for them to help them out.
The National Zoo "Zoo in a Box" is the best way to go for the younger folks - it includes a plush of the animal - and yeah, most of the odd animals too..it's cool. Godson got the ringtailed lemer last year - whoddathunkit?
If anyone knows of anything I missed - let me now - it's all good info here.
If you'd like this again....let me know that too -- it's never too late!
