A new use for Panda Poop!!

Posted by PandaFan at 07:45 PM on July 31, 2007 in Panda's & Misc Animal/Outdoor.

woohoo..they just keep coming up with the most interesting things for Panda Poop - Souvenirs now!

Odd though that the souvenirs dont smell all THAT bad?? I'm guessing they wont be HUGE sellers but, I could be wrong.

Fun and Games

Posted by PandaFan at 09:33 PM on August 27, 2007 in Site Stuff, Books & General Babble.

After taking a stroll down memory lane with Jerry over at With Retsyn I just HAD to go out and find some of the games I played as a kid. Brings back some crazy memories. Jerry and I already knew of our shared obsession with Mouse Trap and maybe even RockEmSockEmRobots but, there are sooo many more!! It was the age - prior to Atari, Playstation and PC gaming all you had to do was go into the closet. There was always a closet  (or 2) in the house with a shelf devoted to board games. And it was always great fun to pull one down and share time with your family and friends. We should do it more often. I should buy some I guess, LOL.

My first memories are of Mille Bornes. The French side of the family played it all the time and I recall it was for pennies and got hot once in a while and went up to nickes and even dimes on occassion! It was all in French and is probably why I've lost that part of my childhood - stopped playing the game, stopped speaking French. Or you know, stopped hanging out with all the old ladies .

As a real youngster I played Lincoln Logs all the time. I even played with them after my dog ate half of them and tried to still make cabins and such. Gave them a rustic feel I suppose.

Then we get to the Crazy 70's. Look in the Gallery...OH MY the games I played --- I shudder to think of those times gone by and those games but, I do get a good laugh out of it all and picture myself in my flowered hip huggers and smile TShirt just having a great old time with the long locks and hanging down in an unkempt mess of auburn curls. Ah, the good old days.

The family always played the long games - Monopoly, Life, etc. And I usually lost at Monopoly but, did well with The Game of Life although I always ended up with a carload of kids stuck in between the rest of them like Lincoln Logs. Must be some leftover angst or a constant reminder of the past perhaps.

Couple of Games I couldnt find and can't remember the names of so, any help with that would be appreciated:

One was Snoopy and The Red Baron and it had marbles in it...I think a black one and a red one and you built the plane and the doghouse. Maybe I'm on crack but, thats what I remember anyway. And as a young girl I had a Bride game that was ooohhhh so verry cheesy late 70's early 80's where you picked a bride in a certain kind of gown and then picked a groom in a certain kind of tux and I remember it was funny to pick Ms. Poofy Southern Belle like Bride and team her up with Mr. Ken Looking guy with the grey tails. I dont know..more crack but, thats funny stuff too.

I couldnt find the Battleship we all really wanted to buy but, found the one I remember having. One of the kids we grew up with was on the cover of the other one I seem to recall was the big hubbubaloo.

The Pop O Matic brought back some great memories but, I couldnt recall exactly which game I had it on but, that horrid popping that reminds me of the little kids vacuum cleaner you buy for a friend just to make their life miserable is what I can relate it to.

Anyway, memories of Sorry, Connect 4, Masterpiece and a few crazy others was a really good nostalgic ride..Thanks Jerry.

Visual DNA

Fun stuff when you have a bit of time go through the paces. Mine was pretty darn close so, it was an interesting twist on the "personailty" profile.
